Abstract
Objective: To assess the relation between plasma chemerin level and thrombus burden in ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. Background: Recent investigations have shown a correlation between the presence of circulating adipokines and the incidence of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: This cohort prospective study included 50 patients with STEMI who did primary coronary intervention (PCI) with coronary stenting. Patients' angiographic features, including TIMI flow (pre and after stenting of the culprit lesion), thrombus burden and Gensini scores, were recorded. Blood samples were collected to assess biochemical indicators, including plasma chemerin levels, upon admission to the hospital. Results: It was observed that the high thrombus load group had a greater chemerin level than the low one. Chemerin level strongly linked with TIMI flow before PPCI (r= - .405, P0.065 (OR 0.14, AUC 0.0801, P
